About the ClassThe Multigenre Inquiry Project is one of the major projects of the English Methods class at Wake Forest University. The purpose of the class is to prepare students for the different aspects of teaching in a secondary English language arts classroom. The class helps develop an understanding of why teaching English and literary studies is so important, and how we, as future teachers, can continue to learn and grow every day with our students.

The Multigenre Inquiry Project Itself
The project required that we select a young adult novel that we might teach in our future High School English classrooms and identify and analyze a specific theme in the novel. We then were to explore and analyze this theme through different genres. The different genres were as follows:
1. One piece that familiarizes the readers with the ideas of my particular inquiry.
2. One piece that shows emotions or imagery.
3. One piece that displays interactions between more than one character.
4. One piece displays research information about the topic.
5. One piece that shows provides a look into "the other side of the issue."
6. One piece that allows for a real-life use of the ideas collected.
7. One piece that demonstrates an example of a possible lesson plan to be used for teaching this subject.
8. One piece that brings all of the genres together and portrays them cohesively.
